Every rider starts somewhere different. Find the stage that sounds like you, then choose the course that fits.
Never ridden, or only just started. You begin on our private training ground.
You can ride. Now you want to pass your test or rebuild your confidence.
Sharpen your road craft with expert coaching on your own bike.
Something different, whatever your experience.
Not sure where you fit? Tell us about your riding and we will point you to the right course.
How it works
Booking takes a couple of minutes. Everything else, from the bike to the boots, is on us.
Start from wherever you are. Not sure? Tell us about your riding and we'll point you to the right course.
Weekday and weekend dates run all year. Request your place online in a couple of minutes.
Arrive in sturdy clothes and boots. We'll fit your helmet, jacket and gloves and match you to a bike that suits your height.
Every course ends with a one-to-one debrief and a clear plan for your next step on two wheels.
Why Countersteer
We teach the way we wish we had been taught: patiently, in small groups, with time to practice until each skill feels natural.
Well-kept training bikes from 125cc to 650cc, plus helmets, jackets, gloves and boots in every size.
Never more than three riders per instructor on the training ground, and two per instructor on the road.
Learn the basics on our closed site, away from traffic, before you ever ride on a public road.
Your instructor rides with you and talks you through junctions and bends over a helmet radio.
Courses run Tuesday to Sunday, with weekend dates for every beginner course.
Leave every course knowing exactly what you did well and what to practice next.
Your instructors
Every instructor rides year-round and coaches full time. Between them they have taught thousands of people to ride.

Rider stories
Rated 5 out of 5
I was terrified on the first morning. By the end of day two I was cornering on the big loop with a grin I couldn't get rid of. Nobody rushed me once.

Passed first time with zero faults. We practiced the U-turn so many times it got boring, which is exactly what you want on test day.

Fifteen years off the bike and I'd lost my nerve completely. Half a day later I rode home on my own bike feeling like myself again.

I've been riding for twenty years and still came away with a page of notes. My cornering is smoother and I'm braking far less.

Having an instructor in my ear on the radio made my first real traffic ride feel calm instead of chaotic. Best money I've spent on riding.

Dropped the bike twice, laughed both times, and learned more about throttle control in one day than in two years on the road.
Questions
Can't find your answer here? Send us a message and a real instructor will get back to you.
Ask a questionNo. Training bikes, helmets, jackets, gloves and boots are included on every beginner, road and test course. Advanced Road Riding runs on your own bike, and Off-Road Foundations includes dirt bikes and body armor.
Not at all. Most of our Learn to Ride students start from zero. We begin with the engine off and only move on when you feel ready.
Not on our private training ground. Courses that go onto public roads need whatever permit or license your local rules require, and we'll check this with you before your course.
Sturdy jeans or trousers, a long-sleeved top and boots that cover your ankles. We supply the protective gear that goes on top.
We ride in light rain because real roads get wet too, and it builds confidence. If conditions become unsafe, we stop and move you to another date at no cost.
Never more than three riders per instructor on the training ground and two per instructor on the road. Most courses run with four to six riders.
Yes. Let us know as early as you can and we'll move you to another date with space.
Pick a course, choose a date and we'll take it from there. A bike, the gear and a patient instructor are waiting.
